Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited too:

  1. Estimates
    • Compile estimates for all transport modes (imports and exports) based on client and agent requirements.
    • Request landside and freight charges globally.
    • Ensure estimate charges align with client rates.
    • Quality check estimates regularly.
    • Knowledge of Customs Tariffs and Port Charges.
    • Forward estimates for quality check and client submission.
    • Save approved estimates in Excel format.

    Client Queries

    • Administrative support.
    • Proposals.
    • Global agent rates negotiation.
  2. Rates
    • Maintain client rates and update rate schedules.
    • Communicate buy and sell rates to operations.
    • Negotiate rates with third parties.
    • Apply for necessary costs when rates are not on file.
  3. Negotiations of Rates with 3rd Parties
    • Apply to relevant agents or third-party suppliers for necessary costs.
  4. Tenders
    • Complete tenders according to client and agent requirements.
    • Negotiate rates on current tenders for the best possible price with a marginable profit.
    • Submit tenders before deadlines.
    • Follow up on tender outcomes.
  5. Query Handling
    • Attend to estimate or rate queries.
    • Communicate queries and amendments to all involved parties.
  6. Adhoc
    • Oversee Estimates department when the Estimates Manager is away.


Knowledge & Experience

  • Matric or Senior Certification equivalent.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of all transport modes (Air, Ocean & Road).
  • Good administrative skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Incoterms 2010.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Freight Forwarding and Clearing.
