EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • Must have a tertiary qualification in hotel management.
  • Must have 4 Star and 5 Star hotel experience as a General Manager – not negotiable.
  • Must have excellent knowledge and understanding of the workings of a fine dining kitchen.
  • Must have an excellent understanding and knowledge of a wine cellar.
  • Must be comfortable in managing and maintaining large gardens.
  • Must have appreciation for art. Antiques and valuable objects.
  • Must be able to cook a number of restaurant quality dishes him or herself.
  • Must be in possession of a valid Driver’s license and own reliable motor vehicle.
  • Good knowledge of hotel PMS systems, such as Protel, Opera, etc.
  • Must be comfortable setting up and executing gala dinners.
  • Must have reasonable knowledge of Industrial Relations legislation.
  • Must be prepared to work long hours.
  • This position includes a five and a half day working week.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proven track record of achieving revenue and profitability targets.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, revenue management, and guest service best practices.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and hotel management software.
  • Certification in hotel management or related field is a plus

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all hotel operations, including front desk management, housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, and administration.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for the hotel.
  • Monitor and analyse market trends, competitive set, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and motivate a team of employees, providing training, guidance, and support as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and collaboration.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, vendors, and community partners.
  • Handle guest inquiries, issues, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards are met.
  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and innovations to enhance the overall guest experience
