Job Description:

Our client in the construction industry seeks to employ an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their East London team.

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completed B.SC Quantity Surveying Degree/ Engineering Degree (four year full-time or five-year part-time)
  • 3+ years post qualification experience is a must
  • Experience working on construction sites for transmission lines and substations – a requisite
  • Must be analytically minded and have high level attention to detail
  • Strong financial acumen – experienced in handling high level projects
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel – advanced skills
  • Strong communication skills; both written and spoken
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, as well as OHSAS 18001

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate would be required, but not limited to; manage all costs relating to the projects, whilst minimising the costs of projects and enhancing value for money, keeping in line with the standards and quality requirements.

  • Responsible for the certification of subcontractor monthly valuations and final accounts, allocating work to subcontractors
  • Preparing cost analysis and cost planning based on drawings/ design, engineering estimates, material requirements and labour
  • Preparing tender and contract documentation, including bills of quantities
  • Monitoring and keeping track of project progress through site visits
  • Responsible for the measurement and valuation of variations in the work during the contract, for agreement of interim payments and final accounts
  • Carrying out monthly valuations of work in progress, forecasting of final costs and sales
  • Providing advice to project staff on all commercial and contractual matters, including the review and drafting of correspondence
  • Communicating regularly with project staff and subcontracts, ensuring commercial controls are in place, understood and adhered to at all times
  • Managing and producing accurate formal reports in accordance with business timetables
  • Assisting the General Manager and/or the Directors with a range of duties as may be required
